Journal -

So far I have made many drastic changes to my video to try and make it more successful, as I keep repeating, you can see that the video is now arty, I have also took on all of the feedback that Leanne and Sinead gave me and rectified those mistakes, which is great.

I think now to make the video the best it can be, its all about just going back into the video looking at it, spotting some weakness, rectifying them and then repeating the process until there are no more changes and I am completely happy with the way that it is. I will amongst completing this process ask both Sinead and Leanne if they think that anything needs improvements; though I am happy with the way that the video is going.

I think I am going down the right track though of adding footage that has been shot really well as essentially if the footage is of a bad quality and hard to watch, not many people are going to be interested in watching the video. I think that I have secured making sure, that this doesn't happen through y projection, baby footage and the airplane scene.

Journal -

I have now completed a great amount to the video, although it is not all in the video yet in the video I have actually filmed a lot. Some of the new scenes that have been filmed for include the airplane scene, the childhood memories and the projections. I think that this will make the video more successful because it will have more diversity in shots, have more scenes and  look more clean cut.

I think the footage shot had a lovely tone and effect to it because I considered the lighting more this time as I knew that the chance of re-shooting was possibly unlikely. I also spend a great deal of time, trying to endorse in arty things as that was some of the feedback given too improve my video. I spent a very long time making the airplanes and this was because I knew that if they were made very clean that would add to the organic and arty feel.

My plan for the upcoming weeks is to try and add all of the footage to the final cut pro document and edit them all in, then working from that I hope to try and see what needs improving and from that just keep updating the video. As well as that I want to carry out some audience research to see if my digi-pak and my print poster are at the highest calibre that they can be.

Journal

As a result of the feedback that I received yesterday, I have made plans to try and improve the video to the best of my ability so hat I know I am completely happy with the final outcome. I hope to try and make the scenes that we unconvincing, more convincing by upping the Mise-en-scene, photographing more up close, adding effects and asking the female playing Ruby Collins to be more animated and interested.

Because of the feedback that was made, I have also decided that I will also try and make my video more arty, to do this I will try and make the vide have a vintage effect, that is applied through Final Cut Pro. This will give my video more production value and hopefully increase the mark.

As well as this I think that  it would be beneficial to have more projections with Ruby Collins in, to try and incorporate painting and get baby videos in the video too; to make it more cute.I have also decided that I will try and re-do the mirror scene by making t more bright so that the audience can actually see what is happening as, it is quite hard to actually tell what is happening and when.

Journal Entry-

This is my most current Journal entry so far, since my last Journal entry it is clear that I have  made great progress with the coursework and that my project is finally shaping to be a coherent cross media platform campaign. I am finally quite happy of what I am starting to achieve for this project as, it s starting to look more like the work I intended to produce.

I have so far this week started to film new scenes so that my video didn't look so empty and actually had a variety of locations. Whilst at the woods this week, I started to consider the way that the natural light was reflecting so that I knew that the mise-en-scene was as good as I could have tried to. I also tried to make sure that the video had more lip-syncing. Hence, why the woods shooting was very heavy on the lip-syncing. Though, this time when filming I thought that it was essential to make sure that Ruby Collins was lip syncing to the best of her ability.

So, to try and help her lip sync to the best of her ability I purchased the song on an iPad and then took the iPad to the locations when we filmed so that, Ruby Collins would know when to sing and the actual timings of the song as well as the pauses in the song or the instrumentals. This would also make it much easier for me to edit as well, because I can hear the audio in the background of the footage.

I also got the chance to reshoot the bedroom singing which was poorly lit the first time around, though I think that the footage may be quite bland or uninteresting as Ruby Collins ( Lauren Madden) wasn't that emotive again/ Therefore, I may have to try and re-film again to make the footage more interesting. I plan to in the up and coming weeks look at making the video better, by introducing new scenes etc.

Journal Post

I just wanted to add a journal post to say what I have currently worked on in connection with my Music video as well as what I plan to do in the upcoming week.

I have so far as you can see from my blog made big changes to my Digi pak and my print advert and these changes I think we're completely necessary as they have made my designs look more professional. Therefore, I will get a better mark. I think the changes to the design were also effective in showing that the artist was less about her image, it has also made my artist have stronger routes with urban Jazz as the colours are more organic.

I hope to in the next upcoming week try and make some more drastic change to the project, by making both my Digi pak and my print advert even more sophisticated by playing with effects on the overall designs. This will help me to see if the colours are effective. From this I plan to try and do an online poll to see what colours are the most liked. This gives me the chance to source audience feedback from a range of people that visit my blog as well as have a design that is less controlled by just my own opinion.

I also plan to try and get all of the second location footage onto my Final Cut Pro design, so I know what to do next. It will also give me the opportunity to retake footage if needed. I think that I also need to try and make a clear calendar that will detail some self set deadlines. This is essential as I know that the deadline for the first shoot is close looming and I don't want to have to make lots of changes to my music video after that screening.

Journal

This week I have really started to make a dent on the work associated with the music video and it is because so far I haven't completed any footage. Therefore, this week was essential for me, as I needed to make sure that some sort of footage was filmed and edited so that I could build from that.

Luckily, I have been able to complete that this week; as I have filmed all the scenes that I planned on the storyboard that needed to be filmed at Greenwich park. The shoot was a success though took a long time to film and travel there and back. As well as this I got the chance to actually edit this footage too; which meant that I finally had something, next to the track in the final cut pro document. I found it quite difficult to edit though as I didn't really know the whole pace of the video yet as the other footage was not completed. I also found it difficult to use the equipment as although, I have used final cut pro before and know the basics, there are things more advance that I need to conquer such as using, effects, the toolbar down the side of the timeline and exporting clips. Though, I think becoming better at this programme will only come with experience of use and continuing to make the video.

I also amongst filming the Greenwich park footage and editing, got to refocus my digi-pak. Which allowed me to consider how to add some conventions to the digi-pak in the Photoshop document.

I found this quite fun as with every layer that was getting put onto the document, the more professional the layout was becoming. Though I did keep having some problems with the tools as, with the magic wand kept selecting everything to get rid of. Meaning I spent quit e a long time trying to deselect everything. For this exact reason I moved the document from Photoshop elements 10toS6 as it meant that I could just free transform the document and it work better for me and quicker.

I plan to in the next upcoming week, continue filming footage for the music video and hopefully improving the digi-pak and consider the poster.

Journal Post 04/11/2013

So far I have got a lot of feedback for my digi-pak and with this feedback I plan to improve my digi-pak by introducing colour and making my 6-panel digi-pak this week. This will allow me to have a more cohesive campaign and improve the digi-pak by seeing what is lacklustre. Such as improving certain images etc.

I also plan to now to try and storyboard all of my music video before this week is after and this is because I need to make sure that my music video is planned. This will help me to know where my project stands and how it can be improved.

I will also keep my blog updated  so that I know that my blog is up to date with everything that I have completed.

Jornal 02/11/13

Analysing My Progress and what I need to do in the future.

So far I have completed quite a few tasks. I have clearly shown that I know what route I  am going down with this project. I just think my main problem at the moment is refining everything as unlike everyone else I have to refine each detail myself.

So in the upcoming week I MUST make sure that I have the following complete:
-The font must be chosen (including the colour and audience research into the colour).
-I must have more professional shots for my digi-pak including images of Flowers that I have taken from a florist or just more exposed images.
-Reflect upon the locations.
-Finish the Storyboard.
-Make sure that the outfits are completely finished.
-Make a mock-up design of my digi-pak and this must be done on Photoshop.
-Introduce colour to the carbon prints.

This list is quite long and I will keep updating with new journals what needs doing next.

October 3rd 2013 - Journal Post

This is my first journal post. So far I have established who the artist is and the route that I am going down. I know that my artist is going down the route of having lots of music integrity and a music video that explores a very organic route. I chose to go down this route as I feel that as a project it is the most accessible route to film. I have completed so far, brainstorms, looked at digipaks and existing music videos and this is because it has allowed me to envision my artist in the market and see how the artist may be if the artist was existing in the world of music.

To make sure that my artist profiling is coherent and concise, I will in the up and coming week make an audience profiling that is more coherent. I will also produce some form of audience research so I know that I am going down a clear route that an audience will actually buy.

I think so far that the artist is well established and if i keep going down the route that i am so far, then the artist will have a cohesive campaign that will work well across a number of media platforms. I do though have to bare in mind that I need to keep continuity throughout my project as this what makes the finished product better.
